What is Music Therapy?
According to the American Music Therapy Association, music therapy is an established in which music is used within a therapeutic relationship to address physical, emotional, cognitive and social needs of individuals of all ages. Music therapy improves the quality of
life for persons who are well and meets the needs of and adults
with disabilities or illnesses.
How does it work?
After a thorough assessment of the strengths and needs of each client, the therapist will provide an individualized, which may consist of creating, singing, improvisation, moving to and/or listening to music.
Using a variety of instruments the therapist utilizes music practices that
heal and harmonize the body, mind and spirit. Specializing in children with special needs to improve social, speech, communication, and motor skills, just to name a few. She also teaches adaptive piano and a combination of music therapy and
yoga for children and adults to, flexibility, circulation, and body stillness. Emphasis on guided relaxation and proper breathing technique.
